At your first appointment, any prescription supplied will usually be for a 3-month supply of medication, to last until your planned follow up appointment. This is to allow sufficient time for any side effects to settle. We can then issue you a further prescription at your follow up appointment if you wish, once we have made any potential alterations to doses or types of HRT. Due to multiple HRT shortages affecting the UK over the past 4 years, we are limited to only being able to prescribe 3 months at a time for many of the common items. If you need a further prescription but your next agreed consultation is not needed for some time you can order a further prescription on our website.
When you request a repeat prescription, one of our doctors will check your medical record and make sure the request is appropriate. For your medical safety, if you are overdue for a follow up consultation, we will let you know this and as a result, the provision of your prescription may be delayed or declined.
Sometimes, the timing doesn’t work out exactly, for example if some medication is accidentally mislaid, or your dose has been changed in between appointments following the agreement between you and your doctor, or if an appointment is delayed by a few weeks. If this is the case, we may provide an emergency 1 month supply of medication to last until the next available consultation can be arranged.
