From Dr Alice Duffy
Hear from Alice, our founder and lead menopause specialist, on why follow-up appointments matter more than people realise — and what makes them so valuable for getting your treatment exactly right.

Why follow-ups matter
Finding the right HRT or treatment plan is rarely immediate. Follow-ups are where the real fine-tuning happens — and where new treatments come into the picture.
Few women hit their optimal dose first time. Follow-ups are when we adjust the type, dose or delivery method so your treatment actually delivers — not just kind of works.
Follow-ups are when we discuss adding testosterone, switching products, or trying non-hormonal options as your needs and symptoms evolve.
Regular review keeps your treatment safe and effective long-term. We track symptoms, levels and side effects so nothing slips through the cracks.
Your follow-up
Your follow-up fee covers everything you need to review and refine your care — including your renewed prescription where appropriate.

Fantastic call with Dr Alice Duffy. I was finally heard, listened to and advised on my options going forward. She was so reassuring and such a positive influence, I just felt relieved it wasn’t just me going through the mill with my menopause symptoms. Her knowledge is second to none and knew exactly what was happening and what needed to be done to relieve the symptoms. I now have a plan, which, believe me, means I can get on with life. Thank you so much, what a great job you do.Posted on Google![]()

I was recommended to speak to Dr Alice after trying to deal with menopause myself (badly). Not only did she make me feel comfortable enough to talk about things I tend to keep buried, she listened, advised and made sense of everything I was feeling and gave me the confidence to move forward and deal with it properly. No GP would every be able to explain things so well or give you that warm feeling of being heard. If you are struggling, as I was with menopause I couldnt recommend her highly enough! Thank you Dr Alice xPosted on Google![]()

Follow-up questions
Common questions from existing patients booking a follow-up consultation.
Not as a follow-up — to keep your care safe, after 12 months we'd ask you to book an initial consultation instead. A lot can change in a year, and an initial gives us the time to take a fresh history. You can book an initial consultation here.
Follow-ups are up to 30 minutes — long enough to review your symptoms, adjust your treatment, and renew your prescription. For more complex changes, we sometimes recommend a longer initial-style consultation.
Follow-up consultations are £190 and include your prescription where one is issued. See full pricing for blood tests and other services.
Yes — follow-ups are the right place to discuss adding testosterone, switching HRT formulations, or trying new approaches. Where blood tests are needed first, we'll arrange them as part of your plan. Learn more about testosterone for women.
Your first follow-up is typically recommended around three months after your initial consultation. If no changes are needed at that point, a further follow-up is usually around six months later. We'll always recommend a timeline that fits your situation.
For existing patients, please call the clinic on 0115 6463390 to book a blood test. Learn more about our blood tests.
That's exactly what follow-ups are for. Finding the right plan is rarely immediate — many women need adjustments to dose, type or delivery before symptoms are well-controlled. Book a follow-up and we'll work through it together.
Sometimes. With your permission, we'll write to your NHS GP summarising your treatment. Whether they then take over depends on the medication and your local NHS policy — many of our patients do successfully transition.
Scroll up to book your follow-up — or call us if you'd prefer to chat first.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
We are still here for you for appointments, prescriptions and support as normal until 23 October, but then we close. Please take a moment to read about how this affects your care.
