Our team
A small, specialist team of GPs and pharmacists with deep expertise in menopause and HRT - and the time, training and warmth to listen properly.
I’m Dr Alice Duffy, a GP and British Menopause Society Accredited menopause specialist with a lifelong interest in women’s health. I chose to specialise in the menopause because I want to help women feel better and thrive in all aspects of their personal and professional lives. I’m passionate about teaching women the truth about menopause, debunking myths around HRT, and helping women answer the question “What does this mean for me?” I empathise greatly, because I’ve been there myself.
After studying medicine at Glasgow University, and graduating in 1987 I decided to pursue further training to become a GP. A field which fosters long-term, trust-based relationships between patients and practitioners. My aim has always been to deeply understand my patients and their unique needs. I firmly believe this is vital to good care – no two of us are the same, so care should be shaped to our unique individual needs.
I’m Dr Sarah Ball. For many years I worked in General Practice where I developed my interest in women’s health. This sparked a love of women’s midlife health and a keen interest in understanding the changes that occur in perimenopause and menopause. For several years I have dedicated my time to providing specialist menopause care to women of all ages. I have a particular interest in unpicking the evidence behind the medicine to enable women to understand what it means for them as individuals. I believe that medicine is both a science and an art. The science guides and informs our practice but it’s the art of applying the medicine to women that makes medicine special.
I graduated from Birmingham University (MBChB) in 1998 and went on to complete postgraduate training in General Practice where I achieved diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Family Planning and practical contraceptive techniques (coil fitting and implant insertion).
I’m Lindsey Lester, a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber with a dedicated focus on perimenopause and menopause. My mission is to support women through this pivotal stage of life with expert, compassionate care that prioritises long-term health and well-being.
With extensive experience in hormone health both professionally and personally, I bring a deep understanding and empathy to every consultation. My approach is warm, professional, and rooted in trust, creating a safe space where women feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported.
I’ve guided hundreds of women through their journeys using the latest, evidence-based treatments, paired with tailored, holistic care plans. It’s a true privilege to walk alongside women during this transition, helping them feel like themselves again.
I’m Dr Alison Macbeth, a Menopause Specialist GP and Breast Speciality Doctor with extensive experience supporting women with a history of breast cancer or those at high familial risk. Formerly part of the clinical team at Health in Menopause, having relocated to Canada, I continue to contribute my knowledge and expertise in an advisory role.
Together, we hope to support women with a history of breast cancer who often feel excluded from the menopause conversation.
I’m Sarah Kent, I am a highly experienced operations and programme director, and a people leader who consistently brings energy, enthusiasm and determination. I graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc in Business and French before going on to complete an MSc in Computer Science at Aston University.
I love the dynamics of a running a business and the perfectionist in me has a keen eye for detail where it’s needed but my specialism is drafting and delivering straight forward and pragmatic plans. As part of the Health in Menopause team I support the clinicians to deliver world class care. With a background in business, I am well placed to liaise with employers to support the delivery of menopause education to improve the menopause experience for valued staff and in so doing, to improve staff retention with benefit to both the individual and the employer.
If you are an employer in need of support, please get in touch. I look forward to speaking to you.
In 1990, I received the Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, followed by the completion of my GP Training in 1991. That same year, I became a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and also obtained the Faculty of Family Planning certificate. I relocated to Nottingham in 1993 and, a year later in 1994, I joined a general practice as a partner, where I dedicated the next 21 years of my career..
In hindsight, my own perimenopause played a part in my decision to leave General Practice. It isn’t unusual for women to reduce their hours or even leave their jobs during this time. The loss of confidence and poor concentration caused by low hormones, sleep deprivation from night sweats and embarrassment of hot flushes can lead women to quit jobs they were previously very happy in.
My personal experience of menopause taught me more about living with the menopause than any textbook ever could. I thought about leaving medicine altogether, but I missed helping patients. So instead, I decided to use my experience, personal and professional, to help other women gain access to evidence-based advice and continuous, tailored support.
As well as my own personal experience of perimenopause and menopause, I have gained extensive knowledge from working with hundreds of women in my role as a GP and more recently as a dedicated menopause specialist. I trained with the British Menopause Society and hold the BMS Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care.
I continually stay up to date with research and guidelines through membership of the following societies:
In 2020 I set up Health in Menopause to use my knowledge and experience to bring best practice in menopause care to the women of the Midlands and beyond.
I am particularly interested in providing care to women who may have been told that Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is not suitable for them. I take great pleasure in listening to each woman’s story, understanding her perspective on her care, and translating medical evidence to facilitate informed patient choice through shared decision-making. I firmly believe that women should have access to evidence-based medicine, empowering them to make decisions that enable full, healthy lives. This includes thriving in the workplace and maintaining fulfilling, long-term relationships.
I also have a special focus on women with a history of Histamine Intolerance and those with a past history of cancer. Outside of my professional life, I am an avid runner and was thrilled to complete the London Marathon.
