Fantastic call with Dr Alice Duffy. I was finally heard, listened to and advised on my options going forward. She was so reassuring and such a positive influence, I just felt relieved it wasn’t just me going through the mill with my menopause symptoms. Her knowledge is second to none and knew exactly what was happening and what needed to be done to relieve the symptoms. I now have a plan, which, believe me, means I can get on with life. Thank you so much, what a great job you do.

I was recommended to speak to Dr Alice after trying to deal with menopause myself (badly). Not only did she make me feel comfortable enough to talk about things I tend to keep buried, she listened, advised and made sense of everything I was feeling and gave me the confidence to move forward and deal with it properly. No GP would every be able to explain things so well or give you that warm feeling of being heard. If you are struggling, as I was with menopause I couldnt recommend her highly enough! Thank you Dr Alice x

New patient questions

Your first consultation, explained

The questions we hear most often from women booking their first appointment with us.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book a private menopause consultation with us directly — no GP referral is needed. With your permission, we'll send a summary letter to your NHS GP after your appointment so they have your treatment plan on file.

How long will my first appointment last?

Your initial consultation is up to 60 minutes. That's deliberate — it gives us time to listen properly, take a full history, and agree a treatment plan that's actually right for you.

What happens after I book?

You'll receive a confirmation email with your appointment details. For video consultations, this also includes your call link and two short pre-consultation forms about your symptoms and history — completing these before your appointment helps us make the most of our time together.

How much does it cost?

Initial consultations are £285 and include your prescription where one is issued. See full pricing for follow-ups and other services.

Will I be prescribed HRT at my first appointment?

If HRT is right for you, yes — your private prescription is included in your consultation fee. We follow British Menopause Society guidance and primarily prescribe body-identical HRT. We won't prescribe HRT if it isn't clinically appropriate.

Can my NHS GP take over my prescription afterwards?

Sometimes. With your permission, we'll write to your NHS GP summarising your consultation and treatment. Whether they then take over depends on the medication and your local NHS policy — many of our patients do successfully transition.

What if I need to cancel or rebook?

Just contact our reception team on 0115 6463390 as soon as possible. We'll do everything we can to find you a more suitable slot.

What if I have a complex medical history?

The pre-consultation forms ask about your history in detail, so your clinician comes to your appointment fully prepared. If you have specific concerns (cancer history, breast cancer family history, blood clot history, etc.), we'll discuss all options based on current evidence.

Ready to take the next step?

Scroll up to book your first consultation, or give our team a call if you'd prefer to chat first.
